From the Mekong to Gallery Ohmar
We are thrilled to announce a special collaboration between Gallery Ohmar and Mahasarakham University (MSU), Thailand!
Established in 1968 in Thailand’s vibrant Isan region, MSU’s Faculty of Fine-Applied Arts and Cultural Science is renowned for blending traditional heritage with modern design. Since 2016, they have hosted the CLMTV + CN Contemporary Art Awards, a project dedicated to strengthening the artistic bond between Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and China.
Myanmar’s talented artists have been a vital part of this journey since the beginning. However, due to recent challenges, many award-winning Myanmar artists were unable to attend the physical ceremonies in Thailand.
To bridge this gap, Gallery Ohmar is proud to host a dedicated exhibition featuring:
-Award-winning contemporary works from Myanmar artists.
– Selected masterpieces from award-winning Thai artists.
This exhibition is more than just a display; it is a celebration of regional friendship and artistic excellence. We warmly invite all art lovers, collectors, and friends to join us and experience these diverse perspectives.

မဲခေါင်မြစ်ဝှမ်းမှ Gallery Ohmar ဆီသို့
Gallery Ohmar နှင့် ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံရှိ Mahasarakham University (MSU) တို့ ပူးပေါင်းစီစဉ်သည့် ထူးခြားသော ခေတ်ပြိုင်အနုပညာပြပွဲကြီးတစ်ခုအကြောင်း သတင်းကောင်းပါးပါရစေ။
၁၉၆၈ ခုနှစ်တွင် စတင်တည်ထောင်ခဲ့သော MSU တက္ကသိုလ်၏ Faculty of Fine-Applied Arts and Cultural Science သည် ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံအရှေ့မြောက်ပိုင်း (Isan) ၏ ရိုးရာအနုပညာနှင့် ခေတ်သစ်ဒီဇိုင်းပညာရပ်များကို ပေါင်းစပ်ထားသည့်ဌာနတစ်ခုဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ၎င်းတို့မှ ဦးစီးပြီး ၂၀၁၆ ခုနှစ်မှစတင်ကာ CLMTV + CN (ကမ္ဘောဒီးယား၊ လာအို၊ မြန်မာ၊ ထိုင်း၊ ဗီယက်နမ် နှင့် တရုတ်) နိုင်ငံများကြား အနုပညာကွန်ရက်ခိုင်မာစေရန် Contemporary Art Awards အစီအစဉ်ကို ကျင်းပလာခဲ့ပါသည်။
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမှ ပန်းချီပညာရှင်များကလည်း ဤအစီအစဉ်မှာ ထူးချွန်စွာပါဝင်ခဲ့ကြပြီး ကိုဗစ်ကာလနောက်ပိုင်းတွင်မူ ဆုရရှိသော်လည်း ဆုပေးပွဲအခမ်းအနားများသို့ တက်ရောက်ရန် အခွင့်အလမ်းများ လွဲချော်ခဲ့ရပါတယ်။

Description:

A parallel world, also known as an alternate universe or parallel universe, is a hypothetical universe that exists simultaneously with our own but is separate and independent. These worlds, often a plot device in fiction, can be near copies of ours with minor differences in history or laws of physics, or entirely fantastical realms. The concept is explored in scientific theories like the Many-Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics, which suggests that every quantum decision causes the universe to split into multiple branches. 

“IF WE WERE IN A PARALLEL WORLD OF DYSTOPIA,” a haunting and graphically intense exhibition that charts the obsessive and terrifying landscapes of societies gone awry. Featuring the works of new contemporary artists, this collection utilizes the stark, narrative force of printmaking (etchings, screen-prints, linocuts) and illustration (pen-and-ink, digital illustration, graphic novel panels) to build a compelling visual archive of hypothetical tyrannical regimes.

The concept hinges on the idea of a “parallel world” rather than a predictive future. By framing the setting as an alternative reality, the artists are freed from the constraints of pure science fiction, allowing them to draw from historical injustices, contemporary politics, and universal fears of AI. The artworks presented will act as visual artifacts from these non-existent worlds, showcasing their unsettling architecture, the desperate lives of their inhabitants, and the propaganda that keeps the system running.

အပြိုင်စကြာဝဠာ သို့မဟုတ် ”မျဉ်းပြိုင်ကမ္ဘာ” ဟုလူသိများသော Parallel Universe သဘောတရားသည် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ကိုယ်တိုင်နှင့် တပြိုင်နက်တည်း တည်ရှိသော်လည်း သီးခြားဖြစ်၍လွတ်လပ်သောစိတ်ကူးမှန်းဆကမ္ဘာများကိုဆိုလိုသည်။ ထိုလောကများသည် သမိုင်း သို့မဟုတ် ရူပဗေဒနိယာမများ သို့မဟုတ် အံ့မခန်းစရာနယ်ပယ်သစ်များတွင်ကွဲပြားမှုများစွာဖြင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့လက်ၡိလောက၏မှန်အရိပ်ကဲ့သို့ အနီးနားတွင်ပင်ရှိနေနိုင်သည်။ ကွမ်တမ်မက္ကင်းနစ်၏သိပ္ပံနည်းကျသီအိုရီများတွင် သက်ရောက်မူတိုင်းသည် စကြဝဠာကို ကြီးမားများပြားစွာကွဲပြားစေသည်ဟု ညွှန်ပြသည်။ 

ဤပြပွဲသည် လူ့အဖွဲ့အစည်းများ၏ စိတ်မြင်ကွင်းများကို ဖော်ကျူးထားသော နှစ်ခြိုက်စွဲမက်၊ထိတ်လန့်ဖွယ်ရာ (ဂရပ်ဖစ်)ပန်းချီများဖြစ်သည်။ စနစ်တကျတည်ဆောက်ထားသော အခြေခံသဘောတရားများမဲ့ကာ ကြောက်ရွံ့မှုများ ထိတ်လန့်စိုးရိမ်စိတ်များ ပေါ်ပေါက်လာသည့် လက်ၡိအပြိုင်လောကတို့အပေါ် မျိုးဆက်သစ်ခေတ်ပြိုင်အနုပညာရှင်များ၏ တုန့်ပြန်ပုံများအမြင်ဆိုင်ရာမှတ်တမ်းများဖြစ်သည်၊ ပုံနှိပ်ပန်းချီ (Screenprint၊ Linocut, Etching) နှင့် သရုပ်ဖော်(မင်၊ ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်၊ ဂရပ်ဖစ်၊ ကောမစ်) စသည့်နည်းစနစ်စုံဖြင့် ဇာတ်ကြောင်း ပြောထားသော လက်ရာများပါ၀င်မည်ဖြစ်သည်။ 

အနာဂတ်တစ်ခုကို ကြိုတင်ခန့်မှန်းခြင်းကဲ့သို့ မဟုတ်ဘဲ “ယှဉ်တွဲၡိနေသောအပြိုင်ကမ္ဘာ” (Parallel World) ဟူသည့် စဥ်းစားမူအပေါ်အခြေခံကာ လက်ၡိကမ္ဘာ၏ “ပုံစံကွဲသရုပ်မှန်”အမြင်မျာဖြင့် သိပ္ပံစိတ်ကူးယဉ်သက်သက်မဟုတ်သည့် လူသားသမိုင်း၊ခေတ်ပြိုင်နိုင်ငံရေး၏မာယာများနှင့် AI ခေတ်၏စကြာဝဠာဆိုင်ရာစိုးထိတ်မှုများကို စူးစမ်းထားသည်။ ပါ၀င်မည့် အနုပညာလက်ရာများသည် ထို “မၡိခြင်းကမ္ဘာများ” မှ အမြင်ဆိုင်ရာ အနုပညာပစ္စည်းများ (Visual artifacts) အဖြစ် သယ်ဆောင်လာပြီး ၎င်းတို့၏ အခြေမကျသေးသည့် ဗိသုကာဟန်များ၊ မြင်ယောင်ထားသည့် မျှော်လင့်ချက်မပါ သောဘဝများနှင့် ဆက်လက်လည်ပတ်နေစေသော ၀ါဒဖြန့်စံနစ်ပုံစံများပင်ဖြစ်သည်။

Gallery Ohmar’s debut exhibition, as well as its second show, both featured works from the private collection.
We would like to thank all the art lovers who visited and supported these two exhibitions.
This time, for the very first time,
Gallery Ohmar will be collaborating with an independent artist.
The exhibition is titled “Link” and features a female artist.
Just by looking at a glimpse of her work on the poster,
you might already be able to guess her name.

Back in 2004, the Trader Hotel in Yangon hosted a remarkable art exhibition titled The Spirits in Colors vs Bright Life—a bold encounter between two distinct artistic voices under one roof.

Now, more than two decades later, that iconic dialogue returns.

In July 2025, Spirits in Colors with Bright Life: Revisited will open at Gallery Ohmar, inviting viewers to step into a renewed conversation between past and present—between eras, emotions, and evolving artistic visions.

This month-long exhibition, running from July 10 to August 10, offers a rare opportunity to rediscover the shared heartbeat of two artists across time. Come and experience the echoes of 2004 through a contemporary lens—where memory meets reinvention.

Gallery Ohmar is delighted to announce its inaugural exhibition, Finding Ohmar, running from March 22 to May 11. This exhibition is a celebration of Myanmar’s rich artistic heritage, bringing together the works of Old Masters, pioneering modern artists, and an celebrated artist. Through this carefully curated collection, Finding Ohmar traces the evolution of Myanmar’s art scene, offering a unique opportunity to witness the dialogue between tradition and innovation.
At its heart, Finding Ohmar is also a deeply personal story. The exhibition honors Ohmar—the artist, mother, and muse behind our gallery. For the first time, we will premiere a documentary film that unveils her artistic journey, as rediscovered by her son, our founder. This intimate narrative explores the enduring connection between art, memory, and legacy, inviting visitors to reflect on the power of creativity to transcend time.
